One of the things not mentioned was the possibility of the incident being a real attempt at an alien invasion or part of a simulated invasion using technology that could be used to fake an alien landing or at least create a hyperreal alien invasion.
If the latter is true, then we may have been witness to one of the most successful alien invasion simulation and psy-op ever devised by the United States Military.
In the original “Watchmen” comic set in an alternate reality 1985, one of the “heroes”
commits what can be considered s a villainous act for the “good of all mankind.” He
contrives an “alien invasion” so that the United States, the Soviet Union, and the rest
of the world will join together in peace and harmony to protect themselves against the
outside “alien threat.”
If the story rings familiar to some of you, it is because it is based on speeches given by
Ronald Reagan in 1987 to the real world, in which he said an “alien threat” would be the solution to uniting a hostile world.

Name: Heaven's Gate The group was known by various names over the twenty-two years of its existence. In the early years, at least, the group did not give itself a name. Hence, several of its names were given to it by outsiders.
Robert Balch, a sociologist who studied the group during its early life, referred to them as the "Bo and Peep UFO Cult." News reporters often referred to the group as HIM "human individual metamorphosis", picking up on a key teaching of the group.
They referred to themselves simply as "the group," and their leaders as "TheTwo." In a newspaper advertisement taken out by the groupin 1994, they referred to themselves as "Total Overcomers Anonymous." "Heaven's Gate," the name of their Web Site, is apparently the name they settled on near the end of the life of the group.
Founders: Do and Ti, aka Bo and Peep.

I believe astronomers may have been killed not because of approaching large space bodies but if they suspect space images are being manipulated by govt thru computer tampering or directly by atmospheric manipulation.

And there was no identification on any of the corpses. Nor was there a suicide note.

Story then changes:
BRIAN BLACKBOURNE, San Diego County Medical Examiner: We were very fortunate that these people all had identification, mostly in their front pocket of their big black shirt that they were wearing, and included passports, driver's license, birth certificate, and that was very helpful. So we have actually identified each of these individuals to our satisfaction. So that was a big relief for us.
The bodies have been dead for varying periods of time, which is very unique. Some of them look like 24 to 36 hours. Others look like three days, three plus days. And from some paperwork we've identified in the house it appears they were in three groups. And the first group went ahead with this plan, and the second group sort of assisted them, cleaned up after them, and covered them with this, this red cloth after they had died.
And the third team helped the second team. And then they were finally down to two people who were not shrouded with these sheets. We believe they were the last ones. They did have plastic bags over their heads. It's commonly known as a mechanism of suicide, some pills and a plastic bag over the head. And it appears that that's going to be what it is.
Many of them little bits of paper with the recipe of what they were going to do, not everyone, but various ones, and it seems at least to be a, sort of, a group decision. And the fact that there were different sort of stages is the plan. This seemed to be very well planned. I mean, they all had their identification in their pockets. The house was immaculate.
All these bodies were just lying on the bed with the sheet over the top of them. The rest of the house was all cleaned. And they'd taken all the trash and put it out behind the house. It was very planned, very sort of immaculately carried out.
