Tacitus and Plinius agreed that many of the ancient myths were confusing so they investigated the chronology of The Phoenix. Through their studies, they concluded that The Phoenix lived an equivalent to a Platonic year, a calculation determined by the alignment of the Sun, the Moon, and the five planets known at that time, they needed to return to their original positions which in our time represents a period of 12,994 years.
The ancient ones believed that this enormous astronomical cycle would be complete provided all conditions of the planetary influence were the same. In other words, The Phoenix was considered similar to a mirror of the universe. By the end of the IVth century, Claudianus had written some verses about an immortal bird, able to reborn from its ashes, an heir to itself, and a witness of that time.
The Greeks believed that the Phoenix lived in Arabia in a cool well. At dawn each morning, it sung a beautiful song, so beautiful that the Sun god would stop his chariot to listen. The Phoenix is a unique bird, there may only exist one at a time, which makes it a solitary bird. It does not reproduce, which adds to its loneliness, as only its death will bring on another of its race.
In Greek and Roman legends the Phoenix is the symbol of immortality and resurrection. It is associated with the Sun god Phoebus or Apollo. Its name Phoenix is the Greek word for red which links it to fire and the sun.
Bennu = be the child of the youth which is you
Phoebus = power of human source energy is you when you convert and divide sun particle flow
Full power requires Mira who was placed on Earth as Bennu's companion 40,000 years ago.
Mira = Mi Ra = Man self is Ra = human being is Ra the sun god = the bennu of the golden light literally represents the sun and in using sunlight is drawing on its own energy and using itself to power itself
With pleasant sounds his mental request is for some
Of his own fire that quickly may restore
The youth and vigor which he had before.
When soon as Phoebus dies stopping his rays
He makes a stand and thus allays his pains.
He shakes his locks and from his golden head,
Shoots on bright beam, which smites with vital fire
For the willingness to burn is his desire.
That he may live again; he's proud in death,
And goes in haste to gain a better breath.
The gathered chemical and metallic elements fired with celestial rays,
Doth burn the aged Phoenix when straight stays
The Chariot of the amazed Moon; the pole
Resists the wheeling, swift Orbs, and the whole
Fabric of Nature at a stand remains.
Till the old one renew, youth begins again.

Re: Bennu
Excellent post. I'll be creating a sticky on this forum for discussing the series. Personal note: I'll admit, as a Christian, I don't like their opening narration talking of "gods" sending down their son, with the 'greatest of gods' being the sun, and I'm happy that when the show went into production they dropped this theme.
That being said, this was one of my favourite series of all time and I sure wish it had lived on. It had amazing ideas that needed to be explored further. For example, the villain as outlined in the series bible was the same demonic entity that dictated The Book of the Law to Crowley.
Unfortunately the network lacked vision and axed the show after four weeks.

Hollywood likes to use the Christ mythos or theme.

The One might be more like this.
According to Zarathustra, Ahura Mazdā created the universe and the cosmic order that he maintains. He created the twin spirits Spenta Mainyu and Angra Mainyu (Ahriman). The former beneficent, choosing truth, light, and life; and the latter destructive, choosing deceit, darkness, and death.
The struggle of the spirits against each other makes up the history of the world and is reflected in the choice between good and evil that humanity constantly faces.
In Zoroastrianism as reflected in the Avesta, Ahura Mazdā is identified with Spenta Mainyu and is directly opposed to Angra Mainyu.
I think that all of the large ancient spiritual systems eventually associated and incorporated anything and everything considered great with their gods and demons including stars, trees, rocks, and rivers.

Re: Bennu
Made-for-TV movie which was intended to be the pilot for a continuing series. Created for the Von Daniken craze which was sweeping the world. Starring a very young Kurt Russell and a very old Ralph Bellamy.
Episode 4, this episode originally aired April, 16, 1982.
